Animals As Leaders and Periphery Are Coming to Seattle

What do you get when you put two of the best bands with some of the best musicians on a tour together? You will get a tour that just drips and oozes of sticky extended range djenty goodness that looks to be one of the best tours to roll through North America as well as one of the best tours of the fall – heck, probably for the entire year!

Animals as Leaders, formed in 2007 in Washington DC, and are currently made up of guitarists Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes and drummer Matt Garstka. The band is an all instrumental progressive metal band, now currently based in Los Angeles, CA and are very prominent within the djent music scene. They music is an eclectic mix of metal, jazz, electronic, latin, classical and fusion. They have released four albums, Animals As Leaders, Weightless, The Joy of Motion, and The Madness of Many.

Animals as Leaders’ Abasi says, “This tour is a long time coming. Beyond being some of our favorite musicians, the guys in Periphery are some of our favorite people! Our careers share common roots and at times, common members. We can’t wait to bring this show to you all.”

Grammy nominated American heavy metal band, Periphery, formed in 2005 in Washington, DC. They are often described as one of the pioneers of the djent movement within the progressive metal genre. The band consists of vocalist Spencer Sotelo, guitars Misha Monsoor, Mark Holcomb, & Jake Bowen and drummer Matt Halpern. The band has released a total of five studio albums, Periphery, Periphery II: This Time It’s Personal, Juggernaut: Alpha, Juggernaut: Omega and Periphery III: Select Difficulty.

Periphery’s Holcomb adds, “While we’ve done some short runs and one-off shows with AAL over the years, the idea to do a full-scale, co-headlining tour of North America has been something both our camps have discussed for the better part of seven years. Unfortunately, we were never able to line things up. Until now. We were also able to snag two amazing bands for portions of this tour as well, Car Bomb for the first half and Astronoid for the second half.”

Car Bomb’s run goes from Oct. 31 – Nov. 15, and Astronoid supports through Dec. 2.
