Prong Rocks Studio Seven

Heavy Metal legends Prong made their way to Studio Seven in Seattle. Formed in New York in 1986, Prong are currently embarking on a tour of North America, supporting their latest release and twelfth studio album Zero Days. The band performed a solid ninety minute set that consisted of new material, but mostly consisted of older material that they are best known for.

Prong, which is made up of Tommy Victor (guitar / vocals), Art Cruz (drums) and Jason Christopher (bass / backing vocals), wasted little time hitting the audience like a ton of bricks, kicking off their set with “Forced Into Tolerance” off of Zero Days, before going back in time to play heavy classics such as “Another Worldly Device”, “Beg To Differ” and “Lost and Found”.

Prong has always been a superb band live, always consistent with their unique and very identifiable sound. “Prove You Wrong”, “Cut and Dry”, “Broken Peace”, “Whose Fist Is This Anyway” and the fan favorite “Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck” always sound awesome live.

Though the crowd wasn’t at capacity for this Monday evening show, but those who were in attendance made sure that Prong knew that they were having a great time. Singing along with the choruses, starting up a mosh pit, along with head banging and fist pumping.  Victor’s guitar playing was flawless and his voice as strong as ever. Cruz is an animal on the drums. How he can play with such ferocity and intensity night after night is mind boggling. The charismatic Christopher kept the bottom end with his bass playing. Each member of the band constantly interacted with the crowd.

The band closed out their awesome set with “Ultimate Authority” and “For Dear Life”. With Victor laying his guitar on the monitor filling the sound system with some gnarly feedback, the band made their way off the stage.

A little over three decades of putting out awesome album after album and performing many concerts on their many tours, Prong gets better over time and they constantly put on stellar performances.
