It was a crazy Friday evening in the Sodo District of Seattle, with many people trying to make their way over to the baseball stadium to catch the game or to the WAMU Theater so they could witness an evening of some serious rock n roll presented by three female fronted bands that proved that the girls can rock just as hard, if not harder, than the guys.

Halestorm, who call Red Lion, PA home are made up of Lzzy Hale (vocals / guitar), Arejay Hale (drums), Joe Hottinger (lead guitar) and Josh Smith (bass), are touring in support of their latest release, Vicious and judging by the massive turnout for the evenings headliners, this was going be an awesome show.

With a stage set up that consisted of a large number of lights and the band’s logo, the band hit the ground running opening their set with “Skulls” before jumping into the ever popular and fan favorites “Love Bites (So Do I) ,“Mz. Hyde” and “I Miss the Misery”. Lzzy is a power frontwoman, along with her awesome voice, Lzzy and Hottinger trading licks and leads, and Smith strumming his bass notes keeping in time with Arejay’s drum beat, the band was a having an incredible time and the audience could sense the authenticity that Halestorm were putting into their performance.

The band continued to concentrate most of their set off the new album Vicious, performing “The Silence”, “Black Vultures”, and the title track “Vicious”. One of the highlights of the evening was Arejay performing an awesome drum solo. Before ending his solo, he traded his normal sticks for some oversized sticks that were the size of baseball bats, and he proceeded to belt out the remainder of his solo before the band jumped into “Freak Like Me”, “I am the Fire” and finishing their set with “Uncomfortable”.

After a thunderous applause from the audience, the band made their way back to the stage to perform “Killing Ourselves to Live” and “Here’s To Us” to close out their awesome performance.

Goth metal band In This Moment are based out of Los Angeles and are made up of Maria Brink (vocals), Chris Howorth (lead guitar), Randy Weitzel (lead guitar), Travis Johnson (bass) and Kent Dimmel (drums), are touring in support of their latest release Ritual.  They provided direct support on the bill and they brought all the theatrics that they are known for and they put on a performance that did not disappoint. With lots of killer lighting and lots of fog, In This Moment are highly accomplished musicians, have a very well-choreographed stage show and those in attendance loved every minute of it.

Prior to the band taking the stage, “Respect” by the late Aretha Franklin was played through the public address system. Then at the end of “Salvation”, the band opened the set with “Blood” followed by “River of Fire”, and “Adrenalize”. Brink had many wardrobe changes and the members of the band change positions on stage, the fog cannons and other props, such as the large red and white balloons that filled the arena, the band tore through “Big Bad Wolf”, a medley that comprised of Metallica songs which the band called “Monster Jam”, “Sick Like Me”, “Oh Lord” and finished the incredible set with “Whore”.  The band put on a performance that would be very hard to top.

Getting the evening started Anaheim, CA based New Years Day. They put on a quick set to the get crowd warmed up and ready for an awesome evening of female fronted rock and roll.
